Recently held in Orlando, the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) annual Practitioners’ Symposium was a valuable learning ground for us.

Held over two and a half days it was attended by practitioners from all parts of the US.

Themes that emerged, mostly not surprising, included the following:

  • Cyber-security is continually at the forefront of US CPAs’ concerns.
  • The cloud. Choices. Integration, or lack of, due to cherry-picking the best software from different vendors.
  • Condensed workload into a few months of the year.
  • Difficulties in getting qualified and experienced staff.
  • Succession planning.
