Fresh from a US contact is news that IRS is stepping up its focus on payments to foreign vendors made by US Accounts Payable departments.

This dovetails with the article I’ve just written for AMCHAM on form W-8BEN posted yesterday.

Foreign vendors = organizations outside the United States doing business with United States customers.

This has been in the wind for some time. Anyone doing business with the United States should ensure they cross their t’s and dot their i’s.

For more information read the W-8BEN article.
