Inland Revenue has made a statement today in relation to North Island flooding, which has primarily devastated pockets of its largest city, Auckland. The department advised tax agents that they are aware that many customers have been affected by the event and may need help to keep up with their tax obligations. This includes filing and paying tax on time, including upcoming Goods and Services Tax (GST), employer payroll obligations, and income tax.

Any customers affected can either send IRD a web message through their myIR login or call IRD on 0800-473 566 or contact their tax agent. We are happy to provide assistance to the extent that we can, to affected people wanting advice on what to do and we send our best wishes to all individuals and businesses affected by these events.
